Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative said the attack made him without words and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
