Renowned Star Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, per reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He also had a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of hit series, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
