Actor Rejects Anti-Vax Views Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Pandemic Documentary

The "Taken" star has lent his vocal talents to a new documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccinations and lauds ex- cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Feature's Provocative Basis

Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is based on a bestselling book co-authored by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the health crisis for claims that the illness was linked to a bad strain of the flu vaccine.

The publication's co-author, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right radio host Alex Jones. The producer recently posted celebrating Neeson's role in the documentary.

A Strong Statement

Representatives for the actor have provided a comment pushing back against implications that he holds anti-vaccine sentiments.

"Everyone can understand that misconduct can exist within the drug industry, but that must not be conflated with being against vaccines," the response states. "He never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the global charity highlights his consistent support for public-health initiatives."

The response added that the actor was not involved in crafting the documentary's editorial content and that inquiries about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.

Key Assertions Featured in the Documentary

In the film, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several controversial claims:

  • It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to government bodies.
  • It declares that "research has become dangerously politicised."
  • Kennedy is featured claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
  • The narration takes aim at stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
  • Regarding the immunizations, it references a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."

Previous Context and Ongoing Disputes

The film includes a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was later the subject of a formal apology by the network for editorial breaches.

In recent weeks, Kennedy called on the CDC to revise its long-held position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, even with a new report from the global health body reiterating no evidence has been found.

A Previous Record of Endorsement

Contrasting the film's message, Neeson has previously voiced strong support for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.

Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."

"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This marks not the finish of our story. It is the beginning of a new chapter."
